Character: Miles Edgeworth and Toshizou Hijikata
Location: Japanifornia courthouse
Summary: An aspiring young prosecutor decides to scope out a potential adversary
Toshizou Hijikata. Edgeworth's mentor had plenty of things to say about the man, none of them any good. While he had never been a true threat to von Karma, he had always been a nuisance, armed with a tenacity and force of will that other attorneys lacked, a compulsion to barrel himself against von Karma's defenses and prolong his inevitable defeat. However, despite his own confidence, von Karma was quick to point out that he could be a genuine threat against other, lesser prosecutors. In other words, his student. While the implied insult stung his pride, Edgeworth couldn't deny his following suggestion: watch him. Observe him. See how he handles himself in court firsthand, so he can't take you by surprise if - or when - you face off against him.
To ignore this wisdom would be petulance for the sake of petulance, and so, when his next trial arrived, Edgeworth made it a point to enter the gallery with other observers. His eyes sharp and his nerves taut, he stares down at the defense's bench and waits for the trial to begin.
